Should You Replace Recent Hires With ‘Better’ Ones?
"I think that unless the employee is totally inept owners/managers should not fire them. I'm taking for granted that as a small business owner, I have the judgement to hire someone who at least has the skills and experience I need. If a "rock star" comes along, sure I could hire them too, maybe reallocate the other employee, but it's really not fair to the first employee, and I think it's doubtful that the "rock star" will hit the ground running much faster than the first employee would after a little training. You also have to consider whether you have the resources to retain a "rock star", or if you'd be better off with someone who's average to start but has the potential to be great. Finally, you could spend just as much in down time and transition time, unemployment, etc. laying off the first employee and hiring the "better" one, and still, it may not pay off in the long run. "This is all great advice, but harder to follow than just writing about it. I also think it's important not to deliver this type of advice in too upbeat a manner, because it's easy to slip into what can be perceived as Pollyanna mode, which can alienate people prone to negativity or the victim mentality. But great post! It's all food for thought."3 Tips for Taking Care of the Small Tasks Now
"I can't agree more that taking care of the little things first can sort of clear the air and help you get the ball rolling for those larger tasks. The trick is remembering to do this without having to keep sliding under...until suddenly you realize and just do it. "I guess the thing is, getting everything we MUST get done first, we have so little time to dedicate to learning. So we plug away at it, still trying to do more, but how do we keep our spirits up when the results are pretty far down the line? I'm not saying it's not worth doing. I keep plugging away myself, but I think achieving small successes in these sometimes neglected areas would go a long way towards keeping oneself going. And to do this I think it's important to prioritize, a thing that a lot of us don't seem to do well. Great post."The Latest Food Franchise Innovation: GPS Ordering
"You're definitely correct about Japan more readily adopting these technologies. E-wallets are much bigger outside of the U.S., but that's actually the way a lot of the POS is going. In this case, convenience is king! I was just doing an It proposal for e-wallet functions for RFID wristbands and mobile apps (in school). It's strange to think that your cell phone (app) could become your method of payment, but actually it's more secure than carrying cards. The thing is, most people don't know how to properly protect their cell phones. Great post!"Subscribe

"Can't wait to try out some of this tech. I just found out about Dolphin, a tabbed browser for Android phones. So much better for productivity, as I do a lot of work on my phone. There's so much out there, though. Keep letting us know about it, and how it can help us with out small businesses."
