10 Electronic Shelf Labels (ESL) Questions Retailers Should Ask
"Hi Heather, Well that's the interesting part to me. As the ESL technology comes down in price, many small and medium retailers are beginning to adopt electronic shelf labels in their stores. In some respects, it's much easier for small business to make the switch than it is for large retail networks. When I spoke to Mike Di Michele about it, he was very clear on this being a good solution for small and medium retailers. "7 Things Every Retailer Should Know About Social Media
"You're absolutely right, Harry. Even though consistent monitoring is widely touted as "best practice" on social media, many organisations fail to do it or fail to do it well. If anything, it ensures you have an active fan base to defend you when the trolls come out. It's smart business all the way around. "Why Creating a Social Media Strategy is a Big Waste of Time
"Hi Harry, I don't think the title is misleading, at all. My whole point is you need a content strategy - social media and SEO are part of that strategy. I've seen far too many businesses plan how to get fans and followers, schedule tweets and Facebook postings, and troll the internet to find things to post to Pinterest. None of it does any good if you haven't established your authority and built trust with your content. So, yes, a content strategy is where businesses should be focusing their strategic efforts. My next post, which should be published today, discusses the 3 essential components of content marketing. So many people working in the digital marketing space are getting it wrong (IMO). To implement a successful content marketing strategy, you have to be patient and persistent. So many people writing about it make it sound like it's a 'money for jam' proposition. Stay tuned!"Think like a Publisher; Act like a Journalist
"You're absolutely right, Heather. Too often I see marketing material - content marketing at that - that's focused on the business and not on the consumer. Journalists know how to pull people into their sphere by telling good stories. It's a talent companies should apply to their marketing. "Subscribe
Putting Shopper Marketing at the Shelf Edge
"Hi Heather, Both consumer marketing and shopper marketing are B2C activities although I suppose the same techniques could be used in B2B. Essentially, consumer marketing is focused on making a sale; shopper marketing is focused on increasing consumption. There would certainly be crossovers and the potato chip example is a good one. I always buy the same brand but when another brand put a "Buy 2, Get 1 Free" sale, I switched brands AND bought more than I normally would have. "
