Personal Productivity-CRM and Sales 2.0, Critical For Success!
"I agree, Dave, there's nothing like watching an artisan work their magic. I'm not so sure about the 'bait & switch' title - it can be quite annoying to see a title that has nothing to do with the article - except in some nebulous way as you described. Sometimes I feel "violated" when that happens. Commenting on the title proves they only read the title - I see that here sometimes, or people who vote once a second to appear like they're reading articles when they don't have enough time to actually do it - it's visible for literally everyone to see on the "live" page. (I've actually seen 3 votes in the same second more than once - a bit too fast to open, read, and close an article.) Duncan"9 Reasons Why Your Content Is Not Shared on Social Networks: New Research
"Hi Alastair. I especially liked # 2. People involved in branding sometimes over-estimate their effectiveness, unless the brand is so giant it's everywhere (even then, I personally couldn't care less - but I'm a skeptic). Duncan"What Can Small Businesses Learn From Gordon Ramsay?
"Hi Rohan. The article is good, but - I've never been able to watch any of his shows. I have pleasant memories of working in restaurants - this guy is a JERK!! The only fringe 'benefit' beside a paid week off, was that restaurant employees know if it's not working out where they are, the place next door is desperate for help. No one I worked beside would've put up with his Crap (and I know a couple of guys that would've decked him for sure). Duncan"5 Tips to Increase Your Amazon Affiliate Earnings
"Hi Sadia I'd add that customers should be given a choice as to which shipper is used - how good a service is depends on the neighborhood the customer lives in. Where I live, mailboxes are robbed, and UPS always requires a signature (but in other neighborhoods I've lived in, UPS just did the "drop & run" bit). Give them a choice, or lose business - I can't do business with Amazon OR eBay. Duncan"Facebook’s New Privacy Settings – What This Means for Small Businesses
"Interesting, Jim. Now all the sudden FB "cares" about our privacy - all our complaints "added up" to nothing - then G+ - and visions of $$$ going out the window. Last year, the prophecy was that because FB had 700M+ users, their "Places" would take over the social location industry - now it's defunct. I'm guessing (at this early stage, yet) that G+ will beat-out FB for business because businesses will be too afraid to defy the search giant - they already jump through hoops trying to 'please' them. "That's a good question, Susan - and, Hi Rachel. Two cases where the usual online "rules" need not apply are the trades, as Susan suggests, and some artisans who hand craft one-of-a-kind items, like a master bladesmith creating expensive art knives, for example. I've read articles that say every website needs to be up to date, professional looking, easy to navigate, etc. It's likey that the artisans are used to relying on postage-stamp sized classified ads in the back of niche magazines (for example Blade Magazine, or Knives Illustrated in reference to the example above). Many of these one or two person shops are so in demand they have waiting lists of several Years. How would social media or a snazzy website help them when they already have more work than they can handle? Funny thing is, one person replied that he didn't care - he wouldn't hire movers who had an out of date website - just for that reason alone. He felt if their website was out of date, they probably weren't good movers (that he wouldn't risk letting them handle valuables, for example), and he chose a different mover with a snappier website based on that belief. "Good ideas, Timo. The one thing I'd say is that while most people listen to music while doing chores, working out, etc, this is called "passive" listening. Sometimes during passive listening, especially when exercising or dancing, one can become quite involved in the music, but it can't compare to "active" listening - Just Listening. Many, Many people are so out of touch with active listening that they don't remember what it was like, what they're missing - they don't "get it". Duncan"
