New platform offers largest database of documentaries on the Web
"Hi Cendrine. I'm a big fan of documentaries - as long as they aren't either all talking heads, or all about the trials of the crew while making the docu - i.e. no on-subject content, instead all we get are reasons why they couldn't complete the assignment because it rained too much, etc. (there're a lot of docu's like that - no footage of the giant cross-bow that it's supposed to be about, but lots of footage of feet walking in mud). "Hi Ileane. Not being a blogger myself, I can't comment on the plug-ins, but there is a caveat with the share bar. When it's used properly, everything's happy, but many times it obscures the text - and I'm quite sure this isn't the author's intent. If you use the share bar, please make sure that it works on all browsers, and at least up to 150% magnification (for old people like me). What good is it to put all that work into the article if the text is obscured? Duncan"Video and B2B Websites - Do You Really Need It?
"Kevin, I Agree 100% - it's way over-sold. And, who has 28 minutes for one bit of info? You get 2-3 minutes, MAXIMUM. It's not like I'm watching a treasured Seinfeld rerun - paying attention (so I can say the lines before they do). No, I'm sitting in suspended animation till the 'talking head' finishes the script (assuming what's said is planned in advance - the 'stream of consciousness' videos are more like watching a bad catharsis). The "hey, I'm real" bit also falls flat - and low production values aren't helping (because I'm a boomer who grew up watching TV - I expect something better than a pasty-faced talking head in front of a fisheye lens in a kitchen) especially if you're asking for my money. "I agree Yoni - I enjoyed it, but when I see math, tax, legal, or financial stuff, after a few moments all I hear is "Pop Goes The Weasel" in my head. I couldn't leave an intelligent comment (that's usually why I don't comment on something that's very well done - I'm completely outta my depth). Duncan"Subscribe
