Why Shortcuts In Business Don't Always Lead To Quick Money
"Very good & timely post, Adam. Lots of cheaters assume everyone else cheats, too. They've trapped themselves in their own life-long cycle of illogic in order to justify it. Or, they think they're smart, and we're dumb (something for them to chew on behind bars, perhaps? - if we're lucky). Duncan"Interest vs Commitment in Business
"Interesting Dr. Reece, except in military campaigns "life & death" is Really Life & Death, not mere inconvenience. The ol' "business is a jungle" pales, too, if you see a nature show with a predator catching & eating it's prey. These old exaggerations are silly (try watching a Johnny Weismueller Tarzan movie - the world has changed too much since then). Duncan "Pros Vs. Cons : Are Group Buying Sites Good For Your Business?
"Hi Niall. We've had a local indie TV channel show "Dining Out With Steve" since the '90's here (long before Groupon)). The problem always was that it was the restaurant regulars who called-in to get the discount vouchers. No appreciable new business was brought in, and the regulars only came when they had the deal - then, they came to expect the "loss-leader" price. I think it's been off the air a couple of years because the eateries lost money. It's the caveat we have when we lower prices. Duncan"Attention! Spoon-Fed Marketing is Around the Corner… And How it May Backfire
"Hi Adam. I Already resent the endless "deals", "reminders", and "suggestions" I get as email - for the reasons you so eloquently stated. (Many of these are based on searches alone - and some of those searches weren't for me, they were for gifts). It'd serve 'em right if you went in looking for a very expensive desk, got a coupon for ball-point pens, then bought the pens instead! "General Patton! That magnificent bastard! I read his BOOK!! "War As I Knew It" Edited posthumously by his wife in 1947. (I've read a lot of books by generals & commanders - always keep in mind that in their view, they never made a mistake in judgment (there were always excuses - they weren't allowed to execute the plan the way they wanted, not enough time, not enough troops, not enough ordnance, etc.).
