Hail The Weekend!
"Great post Elaine, Very good points... But I think sometimes dreading the work week goes beyond conditioning and trying to acquire a positive attitude. Here are three other options a person should explore: 1. Perhaps the reason you feel so bored, uninterested, and unenthusiastic is due to the fact that the job situation itself is not right for you. Either you don't feel valued, appreciated, or that you make a difference because of the way the company is set up and/or the way co-workers or customers treat you. 2. You never really have enjoyed what you do. In this case, where possible, make an effort to get involved in another line of work. 3. You're not happy in general and this attitude shows up not just in work, but in other areas of your life as well. In this case, you need to sit down and examine your life; not just your job. "Hi Niall, Yeah, you definitely need to be working with people who are actually willing to be worked with, or else what's the point? And social media has a great funneling effect, helping to direct those looking for assistance to the right people who can help them. But, there are some customers who truly aren't trying to be antagonistic or keep up appearances as you mentioned, they just don't understand. And it's OK because they're not supposed to; after all they hired you to do the job because it's an area they need help on. It's *these* kind of people you should make an effort to understand and convert (at least, to a point.) Thanks for the comment, Adam "Do You Know What's In Your Customer Handbook?
"Thanks Yoni, My father is definitely a character... The car clothes drying rack was a "classic." He built a model version, and we used it on a couple of our family road trips. Funny, but it actually came in handy when we needed to wash clothes along the way, but didn't have time to let them dry! I still remember traveling along and looking out the back window as our clothes flapped in the wind... I also remember the stunned faces of those who drove by us. Yep, we were a "cool" family :) Adam"The Single Bigge$t Payday in the History of Business and Why It Depresses the Hell Out of Me as a Businessperson!
"Yoni, From Wikipedia: "Tyson declared bankruptcy in 2003, despite receiving over US$30 million for several of his fights and $300 million during his career...." While on the American talk show The View in early May 2010, Tyson revealed that he is now forced to live paycheck to paycheck..." He's also been convicted of rape and drug possession and has been married three times... Why should his life make you depressed? There are many people out there who have made a ton of money, who don't work half as hard as the average joe... But guess, what? Many of them also have a ton of problems that come along with all the fame and fortune. Be happy instead with what you have... because in truth you have a lot- even if you must struggle to pay your bills and stay afloat :) Adam "It Seemed a Good Marketing Idea at The Time
"Great post Susan, but I have to say that I disagree with your conclusion a bit. Your intention in making the change was to figure out a way to get the maximum return for your work. Nothing wrong with that. And the truth is that sometimes, for various reasons, a blogger may decide to change the flow or schedule of the content being produced. Again, nothing wrong with that as long as the blogger gives his or her readers enough time to adjust to the change... It may be in your case that consistently sticking to the new submission time *would* result in gains down the road, but you would have to wait through the transition period to find that out. "Great post David, I think there's a lot of emphasis these days with *submitting* posts to social bookmarking sites- especially now that Google changed its algorithm. But it's really the active participation which goes a long way towards making the effort successful. An inactive account can actually hurt your reputation. The problem is that this all takes time. When you're trying to maintain your blog, Twitter account, Facebook and/or LinkedIn accounts, as well as comment on other sites, and guest post, etc ,etc there's very little time left to devote to too many other sites. "Thanks, Alastair. This is one of the well-known advantages of the Internet- it levels the playing field, so that virtual unknowns, who possess real and valuable expertise, can have an impact in a way that would not have been possible otherwise. Thanks for the comment, Adam"Subscribe
If You’re Using This Photo, Replace It Now
"This happens all the time… I think a lot of it has to do with ignorance more than anything else. Some people may mistakenly think these photos give off a “polished, professional look” to their websites in a way that real photos wouldn’t. While this couldn’t be further from the truth, usually only those who are constantly online would know that. It just goes to show how important it is to get professional advice when designing a website- especially one that is being used for business. "
