Creating An Owner's Manual for Your Business | Grow Smart Business - Small Business Success Index
"Great post and it might be added that this process makes your business more of a viable commodity because you've taken the time to commit the details to written form. Think of it this way. If you decided to sell your business, wouldn't it be nice to be able to hand the new owner a manual allowing him/her to step in and operate your business in your stead? How much would this add to the value of your business if and when you decided to sell?"Twitter: Increase In Population, Decrease In Activity | Online Media Gazette
"There is not enough information to draw a meaningful conclusion. I'm not a big fan of making these kinds of projections in the first place, but what we need to know is whether the number of highly active Twitter users has dropped. If not, this data suggests the completely predictable trend of passionate users diluted by an increased number of passive users as Twitter gains popularity."Lessons from a Consultant about Business
"I'm not sure I agree on all of this and the points in particularly I have issue with are not working with startups and not offering anything for nothing. In the first instance, if you have a ready pool of established clients to work with you may be able to say no to startups but in other cases, especially if you are breaking in to things yourself, startups can be a great way to get some practice. In the second, I think a harsh economy is not the best time to start nickle and dime-ing. Just make sure you aren't giving away more than you can afford to and that your clients don't keep expecting more and more. "The Biggest Motivating Factor for Employees – Progress
"There's an interesting balance here that it seems to me many managers miss out on, at least most of the managers I've worked for. It is important for a leader, or company, to give direction but not micromanage. Or, we might say, to set the course, but trust the crew of the ship to follow that course to the destination avoiding obstacles along the way. And it requires a certain level of trust in your team. "MoxieWorks : PR and the Dreaded Oprah Effect
"More than this, I would actually suggest most company's cannot sustain this kind of exposure since they have not had time to build a following for their product over time. I maintain that most businesses must win over their customers and do so slowly with each set of friends telling another set of friends. It seems to me this kind of rapid exposure, before a brand is ready, can quickly become overexposure and make it more difficult to build a customer base organically."Got A Niche? Scratch It!
"Great title...and great post. Thanks very much for sharing. I like the idea of collecting lists in particular and think it's best to pick niches whose interests you can either understand or get excited about. Don't just go for the money. Follow your own passions. They will help you connect."Subscribe
Marketing News | TV and direct marketing 'should be integrated'
"I think some big parts of this equation that are almost never discussed are targeted marketing and permission marketing. These have to do less with the medium you use than with whether the recipient really wants to receive the information you're sending. A great example of this is the old business strategy used for newspapers. So long as customers wished to receive newspapers home delivered, they were, of course, giving permission for the sending of advertising materials into their homes. Those materials were also targeted because they were tailored to recipients of that newspaper for which demographics was readily available."
