A blog won’t help your business. Just like that StairMaster gathering dust in your basement won’t make you thin. Or a hammer won’t help you build those shelves if you don’t pick it up

My friend, Ardath Albee, and I were commiserating the other day. We see so many misguided approaches, whether they are sales people, marketers, individuals. In business, when we do something to hurt someone, cause them pain or cause them loss or damage, it is incumbent upon us to recognize what we have done and to mouth those two hardest words in the English language to say, “I’m sorry!”

Metrics–The Secret Weapon Of Sales Managers??
Posted by dabrock under SalesFrom http://partnersinexcellenceblog.com 5234 days ago
Several days ago I wrote: The Most Used, Useless Metric In Sales. At the same time, I posed a question in LinkedIn asking people their opinions on the worst metric in sales. I was surprised by many of the responses. They included quota and revenue targets in every form–monthly, quarterly, annual. They included pipeline metrics, many variations of activity metrics and lots of others. Some of the metrics were very bad, many were simply bureaucratic reporting-having little to do with assessing sales performance, some represented micromanagement on the part of managers

We have a saying at my company: We like to see managers get "bloodied up a bit” before moving them into more prominent leadership roles. If we believe someone has management potential, we will intentionally put him in a situation where he will encounter extreme conflict, opposition, or just plain ambiguity (which in and of itself can be very stressful)
