In International Business Don't Forget Different Countries Have Different Rules
"A great post, Cindy. On a purely philosophical level, however, it does make one wonder how long before technological developments and changes especially on the level of the small e-commerce frontier may erode in a major way some of the rules and regulations governing trade. It is far easier to regulate huge importers and retailers transporting huge inventories by ship, plane, truck and train and selling in large shopping centers then to regulate potentially millions of micro-entrepreneurs trading services and products with globally diverse niche markets over the Internet. "Tips for small business advertising
"Martin, One way of looking at it certainly. To be sure, one of the reasons people often become frustrated with online marketing efforts, even those that cost comparatively little or nothing, is that they measure everything by number of sales. So you can understand why businesses might look at paid advertising even more this way. Unfortunately, both of these points of view might turn out to be quite shortsighted and even damaging to one's business in the end. It can be very hard to sell something no one knows about."Social Media is a Culture, Not Just a Strategy
"Agree with this a billion percent. I don't understand companies who believe they can just leave a few self promoting things on their social media page and leave it at this. These end up being the same people who turn around and say social media doesn't work for them."Small business branding
"Is that the definitive book on personal branding? It seems like this idea has become so much the rage that it's hard to figure out who coined it or where it came from. I have to admit I have only a limited interest in the whole idea of personal branding because it seems to imply that you must choose one thing or a small collection of things to be known for, hardly a good idea at a time when specialization is on the decline. Of course, you can't be everything to everyone but you certainly might want to stake out more than one niche and I'm not sure how compatible this is with the idea of personal branding."Promote your small business Website with StumbleUpon
"You know, I think this has a great deal to do with how such sites are used. My experience has been that with sites as vastly different as StumbleUpon, LinkedIn, heck, even BizSugar, there can be a sort of law of diminishing returns if one only promotes one's own site. You sort of soak up all the fans you can get out of the site and then move on. HOWEVER, if you do more participating and sharing than simply promoting, if you suggest other sites in your interest area, vote for those you like and invite others to do the same, you are much more likely to come away with something much more valuable. Namely, social relationships that may turn into business relationships over time, and good business relationships at that which instead of a single minor add click may bring you long term clients and customers in ways you might never have suspected. Be very careful about measuring only the duration of visits you get from any one site and look more at the return traffic and the long term relationships you build. I admit I often may look at a site only briefly the first pass on most social networks. But if I return to the site again and again, if I decide as a result to forge connections with the owner of the site maybe even doing business together at some point in the future, THIS is the real measure of social media and its value."Kiss HTML Goodbye - the WordPress Learning Curve | Richmond Blogs
"Do yourself a favor. If you're serious about blogging, or about Web entrepreneurship, take the plunge, pick up a book and learn HTML...and for that matter XHTML increasingly important for Search Engine Optimization. The increased versatility you will gain will amaze you and the difficulty level is low. Visit your favorite sites and use the source function on your pull down menu to see how they are coded. The investment will be well worth your time."Subscribe

"Be sure to let us all know. It sounds exciting. I also have to admit needing some tough talk sometimes in order to stick to my goals and not give in to laziness."
